Rocky Mountains

Last week I was in Bozeman, Montana for training on Equine Assisted Therapy. I got the chance to visit Yellowstone and a couple other sites near Bozeman. I really can't say anything other than to let the pictures speak for themselves

Just a side note: I am being forced to go back for another week in August!!! Boy that sucks!

New Foals

Here are some pictures of our new foals. These guys are from Sperry (www.sperryhorses.com) stock and are very sought after. We will begin socialization shortly and eventually the natural training process. But right now, they are just too cool!!!

North Dakota Rainbow

We had a few showers a couple of days ago, leaving everything smelling fresh and looking green, except for our skies. Take a look, even though my cheap camera does it a disservice.

Spiritual Advisor

I suspect everyone needs a little religion here and there, but most don't have a friend like Brother Aelred. He is a true "one and only" and will be posting on my site occassionally. So for those of you who don't attend on Sunday, he will force feed you a few words of praise! Then you can see what I get every now and then, and I haven't died from it yet!

Colt Breaking at Home on the Range (aka "Cowboy Up" Shaw!)

We began colt breaking today. The horse in the pics is a two year quarter horse colt. I attached a video at the end of my friend, Josh Shaw, giving his best at becoming the new icon of bronc busting. Be sure and watch the entire video. It's great!

(Lauren, Wyatt, and Audie-you guys may want to ride this horse when you come out!!! )

Josh did good. He got back up and climbed back in the saddle a second time. The result were much the same. I did not get the fall, but I did get the get up and get out of Dodge as quick as one can. Josh suggested that he take a break to recover, but volunteered to do it again tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on that outcome.

Afterward, Josh asks Darrin for a bit of advice on what to do next time. Darrin suggested that he hang on better and don't fall off so hard!

April 19 Update

I finally got my bike out today and rode to work. However the warm weather is going to be short-lived with the weatherman calling for one more shot of winter starting tonight. There is a chance for snow over the next three days. Maybe that will be winter's final blast.

New "Significant Other"

I finally met someone to call my "significant other". Even though I know that I am probably not ready to pursue a relationship, I've come to the conclusion that I must "move on". To my kids, I hope you can understand, and this is not a replacement for you. I miss you dearly, but I've found someone who shares my interest in Western life and culture, enjoys many of the same hobbies, is modeling a proper and healthy vegetarian diet and likes to run every day to stay in shape. This type of relationship does not happen every day, and when the opportunity presents itself, one must act. She can't seem to get enough of me as the picture obviously shows. She also works at Home on the Range. Lauren, Audrey, and Wyatt: Please let me know what you think. I am posting this pic and if you have problems with her let me know. She is really looking forward to meeting you guys. She has assured me that she does not intend to take your mother's place either, although at this point and time we probably communicate more effectively than Kelly and I do.

GOT YOU !

She is actually a he, and his name is Spook. But as you can tell, he really is a good kisser!!!
